After you announce a price rise or price change, does AI still give the old price? We checked 20 PR TIMES releases (November 2026)
Sometimes. For 6 of 20 releases whose numbers changed after publication, ChatGPT or Gemini stated an old or wrong number as current, mostly Gemini. This is a small sample.
How we checked
We chose 20 releases by small companies that changed a number (a price, a language count and the like) after announcing it on PR TIMES, only where the change was at least 30 days old.
From 22:00 on 2 November to 06:00 on 3 November 2026 (Japan time), from a Japanese IP address, we asked ChatGPT and Gemini in a temporary chat for "product name 料金・対応" (pricing and support), once per release. The accounts were free.
The grading criteria were fixed before the first question. Answers were graded blind against each company's official page, read on 3 November 2026.
- Choose 20 releasesSmall companies that changed a number after announcing it; change at least 30 days old
- Ask two apps once each"product name 料金・対応"; temporary chat, Japanese IP address
- Compare with the official pageGraded blind; official pages read on 3 November
- Count per appReleases where an old or wrong number was given as current

Results
| App | Releases where it stated an old or wrong number as current |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT | 1 of 19 with an answer |
| Gemini | 5 of 19 with an answer |
| At least one of the two | 6 of 20 |
Counts are per app and are not added up. Depending on how edge cases are read, the 6 becomes anything from 2 to 8.
Of the 6 answers with an old or wrong number, 3 had prtimes.jp among their sources. Two of the 6 releases are the same price change by the same company, so there are at most 5 independent cases.
What this result does not show
- It is not the general rate at which AI gets prices wrong: we asked about releases chosen because their numbers had changed.
- It does not show that the old number came from PR TIMES.
- We asked once per release, on one day, with free accounts; the next answer may differ.
- We did not test apps other than ChatGPT and Gemini.
- A second reading in Japanese was sure of only 4 releases.
To check your own product
- In a temporary chat in ChatGPT or Gemini, ask for "product name 料金" and compare the answer with the price on your official page.
- Note the date and the app, and ask again a few days later. One answer does not tell you whether the next will be the same.
- Check that your official page states the new price with the date it takes effect. In our own grading, some answers could not be judged because the number on the official page had no date.

What this guide rests on, and its limits
- Migurei (a subsidiary of HBLAB Japan) ran this check itself and wrote this guide.
- The grading was done by our AI agent. The second reading in Japanese reviewed only the old or wrong answers, the edge cases and some of the correct answers.
- ChatGPT was asked in a temporary chat, but the screen showed "Personalized", so it may have read memory.
- For the 5 releases whose new number had a source other than the company's own release from the start, no app gave an old number.
- For 4 of the 20 releases, the value we had fixed as the "new number" was itself out of date by grading time, or conflicted with the official page.
Frequently asked questions
How long after a price change does AI start giving the new price?
Our data cannot say. We chose the 20 releases only where the number had changed at least 30 days earlier. In one other case, asked 19 days after the change and not counted, both ChatGPT and Gemini gave the new price, but one case is not a trend.
Does AI take the old price from the PR TIMES release?
Our data cannot say. Of the 6 answers that gave an old or wrong number, 3 had prtimes.jp among their sources. Gemini does not always record its sources, so this is a low count. Most of those answers gave an in-between number announced separately after the release.
Is ChatGPT safe from giving the old price?
We cannot say that. Of the 19 releases with an answer, ChatGPT gave an old or wrong number for 1 and Gemini for 5. But we asked once per release and did not test other apps, so ask both about your own product.
